And The Winner Is...

Recently, CommScope has won or been named a finalist in several awards competitions around the world. From North Carolina to Malaysia, the CommScope team has earned recognition. Customer satisfaction, and the sales and profits that come with it, are the ultimate measure of CommScope’s success.

Our success as a business, plain and simple, is determined by how well we support and exceed the expectations of customers. Customer satisfaction, and the sales and profits that come with it, are the ultimate measure of CommScope’s success.

That said, it sure feels good to achieve recognition from others who feel we do great things. Over the past few weeks, CommScope has won or been named a finalist in several awards competitions around the world. The bunching of these awards may be a quirk of the calendar, but—aw shucks—I think the work of this amazing team of CommScope employees deserves to be honored every day of the year!

Indulge me for a few minutes while I recap some of the recognition received by the CommScope team recently:

The North Carolina Technology Association (NCTA), the primary voice of the technology industry in North Carolina, has the winner of an “Excellence Award” in the category of public companies. CommScope was one of 21 winners in various categories of the prestigious NCTA 21 Awards, revealed November 10 at the organization’s annual awards gala in Durham. The NCTA 21 Awards recognize outstanding contributions that information technology companies and individuals have made over the past year to the industry, community and state.

CommScope and its Enterprise Solutions team won Readers’ Choice Awards from Computerworld Singapore and Computerworld Malaysia. Readers of the two publications selected CommScope as the top brand in the physical infrastructure category. Readers judged vendors’ products and services in four key criteria: price, performance, functionality and ease of use. They chose the vendors and service providers who helped them achieve top dollar return on investment from their technology investments.

• Technology Marketing Corporation (TMC) and Crossfire Media have announced the winners of its second annual Wireless Backhaul Distinction Award presented by 4GWE. Winners are companies who successfully demonstrated a commitment to innovation toward the 4G Wireless Evolution. CommScope’s Andrew Solutions was honored for its ValuLine Vision antennas, while CommScope’s Comsearch division won for its iQ.linkXG version 9.1 microwave backhaul/fixed network design and management tool.

BrightPath Optical Solutions (BOS), unveiled by CommScope’s Broadband Solutions business at the recent SCTE Cable-Tec Expo, earned a coveted 4-diamond thumbs-up for its Low Noise Optical Receiver during the sixth annual Diamond Technology Reviews 2010 organized by Broadband Gear Report. Basically, BOS helps operators cost-effectively evolve their networks by driving fiber deeper with a choice of proven architectures and leading edge technologies. With a full suite of headend, outside plant and end user solutions, BOS gives customers all the building blocks to build a superior network. BOS is one of 27 products to earn the superlative score of four diamonds or more!

In addition, CommScope was a finalist for two other prominent industry awards.

CommScope’s Andrew was named one of three finalists in the category of 4G Enabling Technology Innovations—out of more than 130 submissions—for the 2010 RCR Wireless Ecosystem Awards that were presented at 4G World in Chicago in late October. Andrew was spotlighted for its SmartBeam® Antenna System, the integrated base station antenna system that offers wireless operators up to three degrees of freedom and control.

Andrew’s HELIAX® FXL smoothwall cable was a finalist for Best Green LTE Product in North America at the LTE North America 2010 event in Dallas November 10-11.

Thanks for letting me pat the entire CommScope team on the back and give them a well-deserved “bravo.” While customer satisfaction is our ultimate goal and reward, all this external recognition sure feels pretty good, too.
