Bill Burnett

As engineering manager at CommScope, Bill Burnett leads the Systems Reliability department, which is responsible for improving software quality processes and assuring the reliability of active and passive base station antenna systems. Before joining CommScope, Bill worked at Sandia National Labs researching electronics reliability and radiation effects, and at Bellcore (now Telcordia) where he led reliability and failure analysis efforts for major US wireline carriers and their suppliers. At Telcordia he also led the Electromagnetic Compatibility & Power department, developed NEBS requirements used throughout the telecom industry and, as a solutions architect, helped implement multi-vendor soft switch and VoIP technologies at leading edge carriers. Bill is active in industry groups, such as IWPC and NGMN, to define best practices for reliability prediction and testing to support the deployment of increasingly complex systems in tower top environments. He earned bachelor and master degrees in electrical engineering from the University of New Mexico, is a senior member of the IEEE and the American Society for Quality, a member of the American Chemical Society and a former chemistry teacher.
