There is an insatiable thirst for constant wireless connectivity, and consumers expect nothing less.
Retail businesses need to provide great Wi-Fi for their customers; however, they have little desire to maintain a large IT department. That obviously doesn’t stop at retail; SMBs and enterprises face the same challenge. They’re looking for simple ways to deliver wireless to their customers, and service providers (SPs) are looking at a vast business opportunity.
It’s not acceptable for organizations to provide “good enough” Wi-Fi service. Consumers expect high-level connectivity wherever they are, and business users expect high quality always-on service, simplicity and a preference to bundle multiple services; all good news for SPs.
Building a wireless managed service platform from scratch is complex and can provide a greater challenge in delivering a compelling solution. For some SPs, the need to be agile and the desire to allocate existing development resources for other tasks is so critical that this model is simply not an option. Alternatively, SPs can adopt a third party-managed services solution that enables them to quickly deliver managed services with minimal customization. The SP gains agility but might struggle to differentiate its brand.
What if there was another option? An option that enables the SP to define the offering, fully embed it in their backend and package with other services, all in a short time with minimal resources.
It would have to be a cloud-based, pre-integrated core of solutions that could be implemented in a public or private cloud. In this case, the benefits would be a shorter setup time, the option to only dedicate resources when they are required, and overall portability.
Customization paired with OSS & BSS integration and SP-defined workflows requires an experienced system integrator (SI). This SI can provide a unique outcome, giving the SP control over the customer experience, enabling their brand to shine.
Furthermore, SPs can take advantage of exciting up-and-coming technologies like spectrum sharing on the CBRS band in the US, enabling the delivery of LTE networks to their business customers without actually owning spectrum. These networks will add significant coverage and capacity, and can be deployed with the simplicity of Wi-Fi.
Every SP is unique and at Ruckus we believe that an SP should be able to deliver these services, fully embracing its brand but significantly reducing the required resources and time to market, and we are working hard to make this a reality.
