I know 2020 feels like Groundhog Year, but even a global pandemic cannot stop hurricane season, wildfires, and floods. At ITDRC, we (everyone at Information Technology Disaster Resource Center (ITDRC) is a volunteer) have been incredibly busy with our COVID-19 response and Project Connect--having deployed over 500 sites across the country that are supporting testing sites, emergency operations centers, medical shelters, schools, community centers, libraries, and more.

At the same time, we’ve also been responding to hurricanes in the South, wildfires in the West, and additional weather events in the Midwest, as evidenced by our current deployment map.
What can take minutes to destroy, can take years to rebuild. And rebuilding begins with re-stablishing communications. ITDRC volunteers, like the one shown here responding to the CZU Lightning Complex fires in San Mateo county in California, are often on site within 24 hours of a disaster.
