CommScope, a leader in communications network infrastructure solutions, is introducing a suite of communications and networking products to help broadcast, media and entertainment companies better manage and distribute content across various platforms. Elements of the portfolio will be demonstrated during the NAB Show, April 16-21 in Las Vegas in the Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center at booth C760.
This portfolio is designed to help broadcasters make the transition to a high-quality, digital distribution infrastructure that will support the needs of HD video, 4K and other emerging technologies.
“Today’s broadcasters recognize the demands that are driving change in the industry, but they also understand the need to comply with technical standards and best practices,” said Ernest Pickens, senior vice president of Enterprise Solutions at CommScope. “Building an infrastructure to support these changes and requirements makes it possible to create, manipulate, duplicate and transmit information across town or around the world securely, quickly, reliably and cost-effectively.”
The first consideration for companies is the migration to fiber optic technology. HD video, 4K and other emerging technologies are pushing copper to the limits. Fiber optic technology combines multiple signals and channels over a single fiber which gives broadcasters the ability to push faster data speeds at longer distances and provides a smooth transition to video as IP.
CommScope’s WideBand Multimode Fiber (WBMMF) and InstaPATCH® 360 pre-terminated fiber products make it easy for companies to transition to fiber by reducing labor costs and installation time. This contributes to the overall reduction of total cost of ownership when transitioning from copper to fiber.
In addition to fiber solutions for the digital distribution infrastructure, CommScope offers Quareo and imVision, automated infrastructure management solutions that give broadcast, media and entertainment professionals visibility, intelligence and control of their network.
CommScope also offers audio and video patching for test and access. Testing ensures that the equipment meets FCC and other standards while still maximizing the access and routing of feeds and data. Audio and video patching also helps manage the broadcast environment by routing the multiple feeds coming into a facility or venue through a patching device to select the desired feed and route to the appropriate destination.
