Eastlink Selects ARRIS ME-7000 Converged Compression Platform to Bring Advanced Services to Canadian Subscribers

SUWANEE, Ga., Sept. 27, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- ARRIS International plc (NASDAQ: ARRS) announced today that Eastlink selected the ARRIS ME-7000 Converged Compression Platform to offer more, higher-quality channels to its Canadian cable TV subscribers. The move positions Eastlink's network to deliver next-generation HEVC and UltraHD services.

Eastlink is the first Canadian operator to deploy the ME-7000. The platform delivers state-of-the-art video compression performance while providing highly reliable 24x7 operation. As a converged platform, it can simultaneously support multiple video formats—including MPEG-4 and MPEG-2 for IPTV, Cable Statmux, or Multiple Bit-rate profiles for Adaptive Bit Rate (ABR) uses cases.

The ME-7000's modular and scalable design also supports future upgrades to HEVC and Ultra HD services—including 4K and HDR—at densities and performance levels unachievable through software encoding solutions.
